Moyock, NC – June 26, 2018 – Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) and ACADEMI, a Constellis company, jointly announce the successful completion of the 7th Annual HAVA/ACADEMI Family Day on Saturday June 16, 2018, at the 4,000-acre ACADEMI world-class training facility in Moyock, NC. Over 300 disabled veterans, family members and volunteers gathered for a day of camaraderie, shooting, good food, kids activities, gift bags and a free raffle prize table that featured nearly $10,000 of merchandise donated by the shooting sports industry.
To support our heroes in having a full and active life after injury, veterans and their families enjoyed eight interactive stages including precision rifle, pistol, rifle, shotgun and the new Airbow category. Kids had a full day of activities as well, including airsoft courses, shooting safety, bounce houses and a raffle prize table where every child was a winner.
“Since 2012, HAVA and ACADEMI have annually hosted hundreds of veteran family members at our Family Days,” said Tom Taylor, HAVA Chairman. “We are the veteran-support voice of the shooting sports industry who is committed to helping veterans recover from injury and are dedicated to the ongoing support that these American heroes have earned in defense of freedom. HAVA is in our 11th year of service to veterans and our sponsoring industry continues to increase their support levels.”
“ACADEMI was honored when we were chosen to join this valiant effort 7 years ago, and we’ve been committed to it ever since,” said Paul Donahue, Chief Operating Officer of Constellis. “We are dedicated to helping our heroes in their journey to a complete reintegration into civilian life. It is our privilege to commit resources to making this memorable day possible each year. Our commitment is more than a promise, we act on it. Approximately 70% of our employees are former military and law enforcement, and hundreds of them volunteer to serve their disabled brethren.”
