CMP Seeking Assistance for 2020 National Rifle and Pistol Matches

By Ashley Brugnone, CMP Writer/Editor

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is in search of individuals to serve as members of our Support Team during the 2020 National Matches rifle and pistol events, held in July and August at the historic Camp Perry National Guard Training Base in Ohio.

The CMP National Match (NM) Support Team will be assisting with CMP National Match events only and will be picked from a selection process through all received applications (available on the CMP website). This year, the CMP will be needing assistance for air gun, pistol, rifle, rimfire, smallbore and long range events.

Duties for NM Support Team members may include firing line work as range officers, helping with stats/scorecards, along with other tasks assigned as needed.

Becoming a member of CMP NM Support Team is a worthwhile opportunity for any competition-goer. Not only do they earn behind-the-scenes access to the CMP competitions process, they’re also open to creating lasting memories with staff members and participants along the way.

Why Should I Be Interested in CMP NM Support Team?

Chosen individuals will receive a per diem travel stipend (based on amount of time worked) and special benefits offered only to those who graciously donate their time to helping us provide an exceptional experience for all of our guests.

Support Team members assist in many different ways and are essential in the operation of the National Matches.

What Do I Need to Know?

Support members MUST be at least 18 years of age to apply. No past experience is needed, though knowledge of guns, gun safety and range procedures is a plus!

Those chosen will attend a specialized Range Officer training course, provided by the CMP, that will quickly brush up on all you need to know. The Range Officer Course is typically offered for $75/person, but is completely FREE for NM Support Team members.

Can I Still Compete If I’m on the NM Support Team?

Our helpers are welcome and encouraged to compete during times he or she is not assisting.

Members of the Support Team are known to help with scoring and other range functions.
