Gordy & Sons appointed new dealer for historic Spanish gunmaker AYA

HOUSTON (April 10, 2019) – Gordy & Sons has announced that it will be the newest US dealer for AYA (Aguirre y Aranzabal), the renowned Spanish gunmaker.

AYA was founded in 1915 in Eibar, Spain, by Miguel Aguirre and Nicolas Aranzabal, who had worked under Eduardo Schilling in Barcelona. The firm enjoyed success, but it was in the 1950s, when two English brothers, Andrew and Peter King, visited the company that it truly found its feet as a world-class gunmaker. The Kings helped AYA design and produce an “English” range of shotguns which went on to become the basis of the four classic AYA models, the No.1, No.2, No.4 and Best Quality Boxlock.

Today, AYA produces hand-built guns that are true to its traditions, in both boxlock and sidelock versions. Gordy & Sons will be stocking a variety of stunning side-by-side shotguns particularly suited to bird hunting. The first guns to go on display will include the most famous model from AYA, the No. 2. A sidelock side-by-side hammerless shotgun, the No.2 will be available in 16 gauge, 20 gauge and, in the De Luxe edition in .410 and 20 gauge. The 28 gauge will soon follow. Another renowned model, the No. 4, will also be in the showroom. This fine boxlock uses the famous Anson & Deeley action, and will be available in three configurations: the RA, or Round Action, in 20 gauge, the De Luxe in .410 gauge and the Model No. 4/53, with light engraving, in .410 gauge. The limited edition Centenary model, a side-by-side hammerless sidelock with exhibition-grade wood and unique engraving, will also be available in 16 and 20 gauge.

Gordy & Sons’ Retail Manager, Mike Burnett, commented: “We are really excited that our customers will have the chance to buy these beautiful hand-built guns. AYA’s reputation for the best-made guns in Spain is well deserved – they are not only reliable in the field, but stunning pieces of art that are heirlooms in the making. It’s been fantastic working with the team at AYA on a specially engraved model that will be exclusive to us – we hope to have that ready for purchase in late Fall of this year.”

Dan LaFond, Director of Sales for AYA in the USA, added: “AYA is excited to have Gordy & Sons join our elite group dealers. Gordy & Sons will be showcasing and offering our special hand-crafted shotguns for the discriminating client. We know our brand will fit perfectly in their beautiful showroom and give their customers the opportunity to appreciate the artisanal quality evident in every AYA. Personally, I’m looking forward to working with Mike Burnett and the rest of the fine people at Gordy & Sons for years to come.”

SRP is from $5,699 for the No.4/53; $7,799 for the No.4 De Luxe; $8,299 for the No.4 Round Action; $6,999 for the No.2; $8,999 for the No.2 De Luxe and $12,499 for the AYA Centenary.
