LINCOLN, NE — Over 150 guests took part in a modern rendition of a very old tradition as Powderhook hosted it’s first ever Game Feast. The event was held at Glacial Till Winery in Palmyra, NE and provided unique wild game dishes, outdoorsy activities for all ages, and live local musicians. All proceeds from freewill donations went to benefit OneTraveler, a local non-profit organization that provides leadership development opportunities for young people.

Game Feast was a pilot event designed to introduce hunting to new people through food. Powderhook has made all of the details related to planning and hosting the event available online in hopes others might replicate the concept.

Guests enjoyed elk and deer meatballs, pheasant and walleye nuggets, and moose steak. Meat was donated by local hunters who were happy to share their love of wild game with others. Martin Hogan, Manager of Community Engagement at Powderhook, prepared the menu and led the cooking.

Once bellies were full, guests enjoyed an enclosed BB range hosted by Scheels; an archery range with coaches hosted by Nebraska Game and Parks and Cabela’s; duck and turkey calling lessons hosted by Ducks Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation and UNICO; clay target painting hosted by Oak Creek Sporting Club; rope making hosted by Cornhusker Council Boy Scouts of America; additional booths and activities were offered by Lancaster County Pheasants Forever, Beede Outdoors, and more. Kids of all ages had fun learning and trying something new.

Local musicians, Andrea Von Kampen and the Hangin Cowboys Duo, provided music throughout the evening.
