Salt Lake City, Utah: The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF), as Title Sponsor, is proud to present #PROJECTMULEDEER, produced by filmmaker Jason Matzinger. This feature film, set to air September 22 during Deer Week on both the Outdoor Channel and the Sportsman Channel, highlights mule deer and showcases their struggles for survival across the rugged western landscape.
“Jason is a very dedicated hunter and conservationist,” said Miles Moretti, MDF President/CEO. “Through his cinematography, hunters and non-hunters alike will be granted an extraordinary opportunity to learn more about mule deer and black-tailed deer, specifically their behaviors and movements throughout the changing seasons.”
Residing in Bozeman, MT, Matzinger hosts the television series Into High Country. Drawing on his widely-acclaimed skills as a cinematographer as well as his unyielding passion and commitment to wildlife conservation and our hunting heritage, Matzinger, in partnership with the MDF, has created this timeless film that introduces viewers to the captivating world of mule deer and black-tailed deer. From the comfort of your home, you will observe a very personal account of the behaviors, challenges and hardships that have shaped this most revered big game animal of the West.
“It’s been an incredible journey to follow alongside the mule deer for the past several seasons and witness first-hand what these majestic animals go through each day simply to survive,” said Matzinger. “It will humble you as a hunter, motivate you as a conservationist, and amaze you as a human being. I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to work alongside the MDF and bring you a film on mule deer and black-tailed deer unlike anything that, in my opinion, has ever been done before.”
Three years in the making, #PROJECTMULEDEER is set to premiere Saturday, September 22, 2018 on the Sportsman Channel from 7-8 PM ET and then again on the Outdoor Channel from 8-9 PM ET. We encourage you to tune in to learn more about this iconic big game animal of the West, as this feature film draws attention to the ongoing dialogue around protecting migration corridors and other critical steps being undertaken to better ensure the future of mule deer and black-tailed deer.
