DALLAS (TX), April 22, 2019 – RIO Ammunition, the global expert in non-metallic ammunition, will be showcasing the first fully hydro soluble wad in the US at the NRA Annual Meetings in Indianapolis, IN, Booth #7445. This new component will be incorporated into the BlueSteel product line, taking a huge step towards reducing the impact of the shotshells in the environment.
The new hydro soluble wad is 100% biodegradable and all its additives are of vegetal origin, making it compliant with ASTM International standards. Not only does the wad not harm the environment, but it turns into compost (CO2, mineral salts and biomass), working as a high-quality fertilizer.
“The hydro soluble wad is a testament to RIO’s commitment towards innovation. We continuously work to make our shotshells more precise, more reliable and to reduce its impact on the environment. Now we can offer a shotshell with the two elements that are expelled from the shotgun, that is the shots and the wad, having a limited, even positive impact on the environment,” explains Eduardo Baeza, General Manager at RIO Ammunition.
Expansion of Vintage 1896 Paper Line
RIO Ammunition continues to expand its Vintage 1896 Paper line making it the broadest range of paper hull shotshells on the market. Each shell is loaded with care through dedicated craftmanship, just like in the old times.
This year will mark the introduction of the Vintage 1896 Paper Helice load in response to the growing demand of helice shooters—a discipline like bird hunting because of the randomness of the target flight.

Rio Ammunition will also present the Paper International load—a 24-gram load with a paper hull developed for ISSF competition. This load allows for the incredible experience of competing with paper hulls on the international stage possible for the
first time. The smell of a freshly shot paper shotshell combined with less felt recoil and the best performance make this a premium product that American shooters will love.

New Low Recoil Target Load
RIO’s “Blue-box” target loads have been a staple for target shooters in the US for more than 15 years. The target line family includes multiple shot sizes as well as specific payloads and velocities. The newest target load introduced this year has two key innovations: a blue wad and a transparent hull. In this way, the shooters will not only be able to see what is inside the shotshell but also easily follow the trajectory of the wad, improving performance shot after shot.

Wing & Target Line Additions
Finally, RIO Ammunition will expand its Wing & Target line, designed for recreational shooters who want to spend time breaking clays with friends and family. Recognized as soft shooting, clean burning because of its single-base powder and box-to-box consistency, the Wing & Target load has become a weekend favorite for American shooters. Now available in light and high velocity versions in two different shot sizes:

“We are proud to keep expanding our portfolio to meet the demands of a wide range of shooters. We have established ourselves as the leaders in paper hull shotshells, offering the unique experience of shooting old fashioned cartridges with the safety, reliability and precision of the most modern products,” concludes Eduardo Baeza.
