Team Bryant/Keilman Wins IFA Redfish Tour Event at Port Aransas, Texas

IFA Redfish Tour event pays out more than $38,000

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (May 18, 2018) – Andy Bryant, of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, and Rudy Keilman, of San Antonio, Texas, weighed a two-fish limit that totaled 16.37 pounds to win the first regular-season event for the Texas Division of the IFA Redfish Tour presented by Cabela’s on May 12 at Port Aransas, Texas. The team won a fully rigged Ranger RB190 boat prize package powered by a 90-horsepower, four-stroke Mercury outboard valued at $26,706 for first place.

While the tandem of Bryant and Keilman have fished the IFA Redfish Tour for 12 years and placed in the top-five several times, this marks their first time to top the leaderboard.

“It was an outstanding day,” said Bryant. “We really can’t explain it.”

The team fought windy conditions and ran 30 miles to the Corpus Christi area where they fished with paddletails and spoons for their limit.

“We focused on grass and potholes in 2-3 feet of water,” said Bryant. “It was a great day of fishing.”

Their 8.76-pound kicker was the largest of the tournament and won the Berkley Gulp! Big Fish award for a total of $27,500 in winnings.

Second-place finishers Chuck Braddock, of Mont Belvieu, Texas, and Richard Gidrey, of Corpus Christi, Texas, weighed a combined total of 16.15 pounds to win a total of $4,221 in winnings.

The duo also made the run to fish the Corpus Christi area where they found high winds but clear water. They caught their limit on spoons while drifting.

Benjamin Human and Andy Gallegos, both of Corpus Christi, Texas, brought 15.06 pounds to the scales to win the $1,075 third-place prize along with $1,350 in Anglers Advantage cash for a total of $2,425 in winnings.

The anglers fished the flats with Berkley Gulp! shrimp under a popping cork for their limit.

“We ran into more wind than we expected and had a very hard run to our fishing spot,” said Human. “We finished well though. We were hoping for more but are happy with the results.”

The next stop for the IFA Redfish Tour is set for Houma, Louisiana, on August 4. Teams that compete in at least two regular-season events will be qualified for the 2018 IFA Redfish Tour Championship.
